Our highest priority is for library resources to support an evidence-informed health system with a strong focus on supporting acute care professional practice.
Our goal is to provide easy, efficient access to a well-used, responsive, balanced collection.
Most of our collection is licensed digital subscriptions to point of care tools, journal index databases and ejournals. Our intent is to provide equitable and efficient access across our client base. We are currently not equipped to limit access of specific resources to individual groups exclusively. Most e-resources are available for offsite use.
Ebooks are preferred over print books where digital licensing is available. We also maintain small, focused print collections at some library sites to support local programs and health related books for patients. These are not reserved solely for the site’s use, they are available to loan to any client.
Requests and suggestions are welcome; there is a form at the bottom of our webpage to suggest a resource for purchase. Here are some of the criteria we use:
Recent publication date
Reputation of the author/publisher
Relevancy to healthcare practice
Connection to organizational priorities
Benefit for universal, system-wide access
Usage and cost-per-use patterns and expectations based on previous editions or inclusion in accepted core collection lists
Cost
Availability via interlibrary loan
We do not purchase standards, course materials, policy or procedure manuals, technical manuals/reports, or pamphlets. We can partner with programs to make these available on our website on a cost-recovery or direct invoicing basis.
We will consider practice guidelines on a case-by-case basis using the above criteria.
